We enjoyed listening to our General Conference and inspired by our Prophet who turned 100 years old this year.  I love the messages of hope and forgiveness.

I recently saw this picture and it made me think of the "Goliaths" in my life and questioned myself: do I turn to the Lord or do I try to fight them on my own?

Fall is in full swing here in England and we are seeing some beautiful displays of nature.

Just as the nights grow darker sooner and the sun rises later, change brings us the chance to shed the old and begin anew   ...& maybe sleep a little longer

Sometimes it feels like we are in a  wash,
rinse, repeat cycle.  However, we are trying to find new opportunities and ways to meet and serve the military families in and out of the gospel.

We also have had the wonderful opportunity as so many around the world to see the amazing displays from the Heavens as the sky's are full of the beautiful Northern Lights.

So grateful for the example of our Savior the Elders and Sisters show every day by their service.

Our Senior's weekend was spent in Birmingham on Friday and Saturday.  We went up on Friday
to see some of the sights of Birmingham and went to the "Back-to-Backs" .  These were homes built with only a single entrance and all other sides were touching another home.  They were tall and narrow.   It was an important part of the British era of Industry.

Witness that the Lord knows us.   In a hurry to make our appointment to see the Back-to-Backs, we didn't realize we were parked right next to Chinese Store.   Elder Gurr and I both looked at each other and said, "chicken feet". We found a big bag of Chickens Feet in the freezer section.  We were so happy that the Lord blessed our efforts to support Sister Ruan.   Here is a picture of the end result later that next week:

On the Saturday of the Senior weekend, we meet at the

We had one of the best surprises come to England!

It was hard to say goodbye but so grateful that we could see them and spend some time with family. We have been seeing the blessings the Lord is giving to our Family as we serve.

Another Zone Conference came and went.  If we measure time by Zone Conferences and Flat Inspections and then transfers, the time flys.

To conclude the month of October we had several opportunities to do service with the USO and the Library.  We volunteer regularly with the USO and do a shift on Mondays.  Tuesdays are the Red Cross, and we do both 'newcomers' information briefs at Lakenheath and Mildenhall.   Wed. is our Library volunteer day, and we love the atmosphere (well Sister Gurr does.)   We have passed a calendar around for visits to families of the two wards closest to us, Thetford and Mildenhall wards.  We have been able to visit more families during the week and get to know them.  It is a blessing to be busy.

Halloween brought us even more opportunities to volunteer.   We were asked by the Mildenhall Library to help with their community Halloween party....OF COURSE!

We ended the month of October serving Hot Chocolate to the Lakenheath Community in the USO's food truck Big Ben.  We served over 350 people until we ran out of cups--there were many more people waiting, so we learned next year to be more prepared for the HOARDS of people that come on to base for Halloween.
What a busy month, and yet what a great blessing to see the Lord use our hands to serve his children.

We are never alone.   The Lord loves each one of us.   As the prophet Mormon testified, " I am a disciple of Christ, the Son of God.  I have been called of him to declare his word among his people, that they might have everlasting life."  3 Nephi 5:13

Thank you for your prayers.
Elder and Sister Gurr
