I have been thinking about the Hymn, "Count Your Many Blessings

So, amid the conflict whether great or small,
                                        Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

We have seen so many blessings from Heaven for us and our family.  We know that if we give our best efforts the Lord with give us HIS best... always.  It takes such little effort and yet some patience on our part to see those blessings.

The biggest blessing for us is our Son, Joshua and daughter-in-law Maggie have welcomed a sweet baby boy into their family --Levi.   Of course, this is also one of those moments when it is hard to be on the mission.... but when we finally get to meet this little baby, it will be a joyful day indeed.

What a blessing modern technology is so we can see and talk with our children.... they make an effort to include Oma and Opa in our grandchildren's lives and that makes it easier to be here.
The blessings just keep coming!

Another Blessing is being an American --I am proud to be an American.
We had an opportunity to walk in remembrance of those who lost their lives on 9-11.  I can still vividly remember where I was and what I was doing the moment I heard that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center Tower 1.    It is one of those awful moments that has a permanent memory in my mind and heart.

Another Blessing - Seeing the beautiful towns and history of our area.

One of the assignments we have been given recently is to assess the driving skills of the new Missionary's so the President knows if they can be in an area that requires a car.   Prayers are being answered as we have been watched over.   We meet with one Sister that was in Norwich area and come to find out she lives in Fairview Utah!  I was so excited to tell her we knew exactly where that is since we have a cabin there in the middle of the Skyline Mountain Resort.
What a blessing the young missionary are!  They brighten up our days.

The blessing of the other Senior Couples.   We have met such delightful Senior couples.  We invited the Cutlers now in Cambridge and the Lyons in Ipswich to come spend day with us at Lakenheath and eat lunch on base at "Charley's"....Philly Steak.
We watched the F15's and F35's take off and it was fun to see the expressions on their delighted faces as we watched and heard the jets.

We also attend the Quarterly Senior Mission Conference, held in Milton Keynes. We had dinner at a Carvery and enjoyed growing friendships.

Of course, we have to say goodbye to some of our favorite young missionaries as they transfer, or they actually go home.

We also get blessings from serving and volunteering.   We are now official volunteers at the Base Library on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 to 12:00   We have also volunteered to help serve concession at the JV Football game.  We love being involved with the Military Community.

That about wraps up our September 2024 activities.   One thing I don't post pictures of is the blessing of worshipping on Sundays at Church.    We are truly blessed each week to have the opportunity to attend wonderful wards and mingle with other members but more importantly to partake of the Sacrament, remember our Savior, repent and renew our covenants.

One more important blessing --- the blessing of prayer.   Thank you for your prayers on our behalf.  We can feel them (especially when we are driving with new drivers).

We love being missionary's.... even on the bad days, it will all work when you have the Lord on your side, and He is leading the way.

Have a blessed Fall!
Love,
Elder and Sister Gurr
